RESTASIS

(cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion) 0.05%

RESTASIS® is the only prescription therapy shown to increase tear production in Chronic Dry Eye patients whose tear production is presumed to be suppressed. The FDA has approved Restasis for the following indication: to increase tear production in patients whose tear production is presumed to be suppressed due to ocular inflammation associated with keratoconjunctivitis sicca (chronic dry eye). Increased tear production was not seen in patients currently taking topical anti-inflammatory drugs or using punctal plugs.

Restasis is for those:
  • who have suppressed tear production caused by dry eye disease
  • whose medical professional has determined that Restasis is the appropriate treatment method for their condition

About the treatment:
RESTASIS
If one of our professionals prescribes Restasis, you'll probably use one drop in each eye every 12 hours. No two patients respond to any medication in exactly the same way. Depending on your condition you may experience the effects of RESTASIS® Ophthalmic Emulsion within a month. The first thing many patients using RESTASIS® may notice is they are using artificial tears less and less.

Realistic expectations:
There is no permanent cure for decreased tear production due to inflammation caused by Chronic Dry Eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca). In order to continue enjoying the benefits of increased tear production, you will need to continue using RESTASIS® Ophthalmic Emulsion twice a day, every day, even after tear production has been increased.

If you would like more information about this treatment you can make an appointment, contact the office or visit the RESTASIS website at http://www.restasis.com (external link).
